avid hotel Macon North by IHG

Modern & neat hotel. Slight sewer smell in hallway 4th floor. Room is good size & little conveniences noticed & appreciated. Bed is supremely comfortable & enjoyed having another feather pillow as I always travel with mine. Shower had plenty of water coming out just took a while to get warmer water. We will be looking for more of this hotel. Where this hotel needs major improvement is its breakfast. Layout is awful. And offerings are lacking. There was no one attending in the area for a long time. Eggs were so watery my husband passed. Sausage thin as a coaster. Potatoes were cold. Toaster took every bit of 2 minutes & came out only slightly toasted. Cereal clumped together from humidity getting to it, it would not come out-even when container was banged on. No milk-as container was empty. This huge area for coffee, tea, etc. seemed disproportioned to the space given for food. String art displays only hampered people getting around. Some people waited around for help but became discouraged & left. Someone made a spill & threw napkins on top. For a good 25 minutes water in sink in service area was running. When lady did come back to her job, she didn’t seem to know how to clean up a spill. Took forever doing that job & never refilled anything then started packing up plates like breakfast was over. During her absence another employee did make herself a plate of food & went behind front desk with her plate. It’s very sad to see people who don’t care or know how to do their job.

What I didn’t like was the room wasn’t throughly cleaned….. there was trash and dust under the pull out sofa bed in the room. Also, the walls adjoining rooms are very thin…. I heard EVERYTHING my neighbors were engaged in. From their conversations, to entertainment played on their phones, to their “adult time”.

Helpful staff, although we stayed at another property after our rooms were not ready.

Very nice hotel, almost brand new

Clean and beautiful, like all the Avid hotels I've seen. We slept very well and started the day off feeling truly supported. Thank you so much.

Room was clean, we had an issue with the a/c making a loud buzzing sound and the front desk staff was super helpful and immediately moved us to a new room. The pool was closed, however it was not listed as an amenity when making the reservation so we hadn’t expected it anyway but my kids were super disappointed after seeing it. Overall it was decent for the price. Clean rooms and complementary breakfast

The clothes we hung up at night felt almost wet. Bed and pillows were great.

Hall rugs and atair rugs were stained but hotel either just rebranded or is newer. Tile not carpet in room. AS advertised and cheaper than other 10+ hotels in area. Typical breakfast but hot and ready early. Coffee and tea 24 hours. Nice lobby. Would stay again if coming through.

The floor in the room was quite dirty. It didn’t appear that have been mopped. Upon arriving and turning the TV on, we can only get one channel to work. They were unable to fix the television for us. In the morning while showering I noticed a clump of hair in the drain from the previous guest.

Everything was great. I was a little disappointed because I stayed 2 nights and my room wasn’t clean after my first night stay. But I will definitely stay again. Great location.

The first room (113) smelled like cigarettes and the air conditioner was literally in pieces on the floor, thankfully they moved us to a different room that had working AC and didn't smell. The shower had mold, dispensers were empty, floors were not clean, the hallway carpets are stained, elevators are filthy. The first night they changed out the towels but never touched the room, second night we didn't even get towels. The front desk was always very nice and accommodating though - they gave us clean towels. It appears this is a newer hotel, but has not been maintained at all, it is not being cleaned, and is rapidly falling into the Red Roof Inn category. There are many other name-brand hotels on the same street, I would advise using them.
