Our hostess, Manuela, was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful cave settings, right next to a parking garage, and within an easy walk from the main sites of Matera.

Beautifully decorated, stunning view

Very cool vibe. Had a lot of the feel of the caves, but very modern and comfortable. The host was delightful! It was close to the attraction, but in a quiet part of town, so not noisy at all. The only sounds were of the birds outside which was soothing and pleasant. We did not have a breakfast option, but our host had bread, fruit, tea and cappuccino for us. Great stay! We could not find parking so we needed to park in a garage close by. The street may or may not allow non-resident parking.

Manuela was wonderful and made us feel right at home. The space was perfect: simple and classy with everything we needed. And the view out the window was breathtaking. It was unclear in the booking that breakfast has to be booked and paid for separately.

Our host was absolutely wonderful!

The host was so friendly and helpful. We were in the family room which was very characterful and comfortable. The bathroom was amazing as it was set in the rocks. Free parking on the owner's land was much appreciated. Great traditional Italian breakfast. Easy walk to all the sites and restaurants. Would definitely return and highly recommend others to stay. Nothing. We could not fault this bed and breakfast.

The property is a short walk from the centre of Matera and all the key sights, restaurants and bars, etc. It is a beautiful property; our room had character and an amazing view over the valley. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Our host, Manuela, was wonderful! Nothing! It was great.

I had stayed in this property previously. I liked the window that looked right out over the gravina. (In the USA, we’d call it a small canyon.) The morning light on the stone walls of the room gave them a golden glow. Birds sang in the shrubbery below the window. All of this made me happy to be alive! One of the famous cave churches with 800 year old frescoes was quite nearby. It was also easy to park right in front of the building in the late afternoon. The owner is ready to offer suggestions if you need them.

Our host went out of her way to "compensate" for a technical issue that stroke the air-conditioning just before we arrived. She offered us another accommodation to a nearby place, but we kindly refused as Casastella was much nicer. She then offered us free breakfast and to take off the tourist tax from the bill AND a free aperitivo in one of the greatest bars of Matera. We were impressed by her willingness to try and find a solution which was good for us, which we did find in the end. And all this while trying to fix an issue that of course was none of her fault but just down to bad luck. Breakfast was great!

They accommodated me with parking right in front of them hotel, allowed us to store some cheese we had bought in their fridge, and booked out dinner reservation for us. The room and bathroom carved into the hillside were beautiful and the AC was effective and refreshing on the 40° days. It was peaceful and quiet. The bathroom in particular is a masterpiece. Location was walkable to the Sassi and the main pedestrian restaurant area. Very convenient. Prices was very reasonable as well. Not really a complaint but would have been nice if there was an English speaker on staff. Was not really a problem, just a minor inconvenience...but it's THEIR country, so I should learn Italian :-)
