citizenM San Francisco Union Square

This is not a place for grown ups. The rooms are void of basic amenities. You get the basic shampoo / body wash and conditioner. There are communal iron stations on level 6 and 12. No water in the room. You have to go to the 3rd floor. You are told nothing on check in. Staff are there but do the bare minimum. You check yourself in and activate your card yourself to access your room. Attempted to charge me for late check out when I was not informed that check out was at 11:30am. Also, who checks out so early? The rest of the Marriott brand checks out at noon or 12:30pm. Only positive is the super comfy bed.

Definitely be coming back!

The rooms are very small, perfect for a single person or a couple, definitely not suited for a family. Be ready to get up close and personal with you significant other! The bathroom walls are glass and definitely not sound proof!

I love the brand experience. Standard and funky accords the world. I would not stay in these rooms with another person though unless you are only using the room to sleep. It’s really small. Perfect for a solo not for a couple. Sad they had to be acquired by Marriott. Hope they are able to keep their unique style and not get flattened by corporate. Will def stay again in San Francisco and elsewhere. Great location.

It was advertised to me that the hotel had parking available. The view was terrible even on the 9th floor.

Great location at Union Square — easy walking distance to the city's core. Room was as booked (High Floor) with comfortable bed and good city view. Breakfast included was a nice perk. Lobby and common areas have the modern citizenM character. Checked in without any issues for this 2-night stay. Nothing meaningful for this specific stay. The room and service met expectations.

Stayed at the same property earlier in my trip with no issues — great location at Union Square, easy walk to the city's core, and the lobby and common spaces have the citizenM character I expect from the brand. The bed itself was comfortable. I booked a "King Room — High Floor" category for 5 nights. The property's own invoice for this stay lists the room only as "citizenM room" — the "High Floor" descriptor is missing, while my preceding stay's invoice correctly reads "High Floor citizenM room." At check-in the front-desk agent first denied I had booked High Floor, then suggested a Booking.com error, then refused to relocate me. The room had a torn inside curtain and a water-extraction machine ran in the corridor outside my door for extended periods. The property declined Booking.com's formal complaint requesting room move or rate adjustment.

Beautifully designed space in a central location. I had an excellent view. TV would not connect to my phone despite troubleshooting.

Amazing location, excellent service. Room was samll but in excellent condition and very functional. would definitely stay here again.

The room was perfect for my needs--efficient, comfortable, and very clean. I thought the room controls were fun, and actually useful too. The "living room" area was good for relaxing and working. The breakfast was tasty, had good options, and was good quality food. It is in a very convenient location to the rest of the city. As a nitpick of breakfast, I would've liked some muesli for the yoghurt. But the selection was very good nonetheless and the food of good quality. I really didn't find very much to criticize. The staff were great, and so was the stay.

CitizenM was the perfect spot for my trip to a San Francisco conference that was blocks away. The CitizenM was really clean and very modern. The rooms were high tech and efficient in size. Loved staying here! Great security too.

Breakfast bar was a bit pricey - the bagel shop down the street works better for us.

Rebecca, Oscar and Maria were all very friendly and full of knowledge to share and made out trip even better. Highly recommend.

Great breakfast with handcrafted coffees. Fruits, especially fresh berries SWEET and fresh! Room small but rather functional. Bed firm but that’s how I like it. Bedding with starched cotton duvet cover - wonderful! That’s what I’m used to from hotel bedding in Europe. Front desk super nice to store my luggage before my meeting and on the last day of my meeting, after early check out in the morning. Easy 11 minute walk to Moscone Convention Center. Now I’m going to watch for citizenM Hotels!
