The establishment is very cute and cozy, and the rooms are well-kept and clean. If you want a humble yet comfy place to sleep after a day in the city, I cannot recommend this place enough. I'm not sure how you'd do with a large family, but solo travellers and couples would have a great stay. Only about a 5 minute walk from Shiinamachi Station but far enough from the hustle and bustle of its neighbors that makes it a quiet, chill experience. Easy access to Ikebukuro and the Marunouchi and Yamanote lines. Also next to a 7-11 so Yamato Transport is very easy! No complaints!

The house was beautiful and everyone there was so friendly!

Sheena and Ippei is a gem. Warm hospitality, convenient location with a laundromat next door and a few minutes to the subway, we would highly recommend. Beds are comfortable and the experience is a slice of Japan that's really sweet.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sheena To Ippei — such a cool and well connected neighbourhood. The staff were so friendly and the whole facility so beautiful and well equipped. The perfect stay in Tokyo!

Super friendly staff and lovely room. Comfortable futons and the little homely touches were very nice. We had a great stay. We loved the neighbourhood although it is a little way out and quiet. Lovely neighbourhood space downstairs. The walls were a bit thin but this didn't bother us overnight.

The owner and the girl who helps in the morning were very nice. The owner helped with luggage, getting up a very steep and narrow staircase. The pictures drew us to this small hostel-like hotel. It didn’t made expectations. Although the owner was very nice and accommodating, we didn’t like the location, as it’s purely residential, and there is nothing to do within walking distance. It also has a very narrow and steep staircase to get to the room we had. Not a problem in terms of fitness, but it looked dangerous from the top of it if anyone wasn’t paying attention.

Really nice welcome and recommendations by owners. Loved the restaurants and sento in the area. The beds and rooms are super cozy and I slept well.

Authentic & in a nice neighborhood off ghetto beaten track It’s lovely but I need something more comfortable with its own bathroom these days

Sachiko, her husband and her team are lovely! The place really feels like a home, which is why we've come back so many times and hope to come back again. Sheenamachi has loads of nice little restaurants, and is a bit off the beaten track so you get a taste of the real Tokyo.

This was my favourite place to stay during my time in Japan. The owners are super friendly, the room was very comfy and the neighbourhood was amazing to explore as it is more of a residential and not a very touristy area. I loved every bit of my stay and found it to be very relaxing. It's great to rest here after exploring Tokyo for the entire day.

The host was great. She is calm and gentle and answers every question I had with some English and some google translate. We were able to even have conversations. The room was comfy. If you are looking for an experience of a smaller ryokan, this is the place. Close to subway station. Shinjuku and Shibuya are easy to get to. Coin laundry next door, which we used and was convenient. 7/11 next door which we used to send our luggage ahead to the next location and that was convenient too! The reception lobby area is set up like a cute retro cafe. Super cute. No

Warm and welcoming people who did their best to make us feel at home from the start. A lovely Japanese atmosphere in a great neighborhood away from busy Tokyo. Would recommend for those who are looking for a quite, authentic stay in Tokyo!

Sachiko-san and all the staff were very welcoming and nice. We enjoyed the common room downstairs, our morning coffee and the beds were comfortable. The location was good, with lots of shops and restaurants around. Thank you for this wonderful stay at the end of our trip ! The room was small, bit that was expected in Tokyo. We enjoyed everything else.

Wonderful kind caring owners. Great to meet the makers and bakers in the coffeeshop downstairs. The tatami room was really a treat. A rare and precious chance to experience older cultural modes within modern but residential Tokyo (Toshima). I could hear the soft cafe music from my room but that must be because I had a wonderful street facing room... With a window overlooking the street! It was a fantastic stay and everyone there is so kind. What a treat to be in such an environment. There's a great shrine and temple with a coffeeshop just nearby. The station is a 4 minute walk. Ikebukuro is the next stop so you're super well connected!

Comfortable, extremely clean rooms and shared bathrooms, with an excellent location (very close to a train station and many great, local shops and restaurants - not many tourists). Staff is excellent (Sachiko is so friendly and helpful!), and the common areas are great as well.
