This hotel needs updating/refurbishing. the lobby is shabby, the wallpaper is peeling, etc. The room decor is tired and dated. I realize this is an historic property, but a little love would help. The aircon was inadequate, and the fan kept me up all night. The amenities were sparse and again no magnifying mirror. The staff was lackadaisical, occasionally loud as they shouted from one end of the hall to the other. Breakfast, what breakfast?

Nothing, it was gross Room stunk. Stop letting people smoke in there

There is no continental breakfast offered. Very disappointing.

Beautiful view of the lake. Knowing the history and age of the hotel you feel like you are living in the past but will return because the hotel is wonderful.

The Drake Hotel was an incredible experience. It’s an historic hotel and is still in very good condition. I enjoyed my stay there, and will stay there when I’m in Chicago the next time.

We had a lake view that was incredible. Great place to stay!

What I liked the most about this hotel were the bar and the restaurant on the ground level, both places have much personality and great ambience! Particularly the bar is very lively at night. The room was spacious and comfortable.

Great location… However, they did not tell us that either the air-conditioning or the heater would work… Not both… Although it was Thanksgiving weekend and it was cold outside the room was very stuffy. Also the bathroom seemed like an industrial toilet…. Overall very beautiful property, but definitely needs a few upgrades.

The Drake is a landmark hotel. Steeped in traditions of the past. With that said, it offers person an opportunity to enjoy it first hand. Give it a try.

Worst hotel ever. Our bathroom had hairs all over the sink and counter like someone had just shaved. Bathtub had pubic hairs in it and dripping faucet. Floors were disgusting and corners or bathroom floors were crusted with dust and gunk. Looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a year. Toilet was also definitely not clean. When I addressed the staff the said they would take care of it. Whomever came to clean just took a rag and wiped over everything. It was never truly clean. On top of that they unplugged out fridge after cleaning where we had my husbands medication that must be refrigerated. Left dirty drinking glasses behind. All that plus the staff saying they would get us another room and take care of everything and never ever did. There’s anlso black mold in the closet annd in the walls. Picture included. That’s an health risk. Totally terrible. Even when I asked a few times it was just stated they would speak with the team or the morning manager and take care of it. Never heard from them and never had a clean room. NEVER STAY AT THE DRAKE. GARBAGE AND THE STAFF IS GARBAGE. LIARS AND JUST THERE TO TAKE TOUR MONEY. We had a basic king room that cost over $500 a night. That place wasn’t worth $100 a night. Oh and the bell hop never showed up to get our baggage and it was nearly impossible to get some help when valeting when we arrived and getting our car when we were leaving. Worst experience ever.
