Starting with the room, the hotel is under renovation but our room was noticeably dated and not adequately cleaned. Furthermore, the hot water was barely lukewarm We also noted that the first floor consistently smelled of marijuana; fortunately, our room on the third floor was spared. Most concerning, however, was the environment. Our female guest was harassed at the pool, and my wife was hit on while exiting the elevator. Due to the behavior of other guests roaming the property, we felt obligated to physically escort the ladies in our party to and from their vehicles throughout our stay to ensure their safety. This property has good bones, but until serious attention is paid to cleanliness and most importantly, the security and environment of the hotel, I cannot recommend staying here.

Unfortunately the room smelled like cigarette smoke and seemed like it needed a deep clean. The air did not feel clean in the room, and I got congested. We were happy to find a place to stay, but the stay was difficult. The staff was kind and seemed well intentioned, but I need better accommodations.

Hotel convenient, easy check in, drains slow on both sink and tub, wallpaper peeling in room

Staff was helpful and nice. The room smelled. The bathroom smelled worse. The couch was dirty.

The hotel was terrible, they are going thru renovations, we received no notice that the pool was out, or about the renovations. Gave us a room that had holes in the walls, furniture was nasty with stains, bathroom not cleaned

Upon my arrival to the hotel the entry was very nice for the lounge area. I did notice that it was some items on the other side that were boxed so I assumed it was some renovations going on. Customer service was on point and the gentleman was very accommodating but I must say I was very disappointed in how the hotel was. First and foremost on the welcome screen there were images from the Bistro and when I asked what time was breakfast or how do I order what was being displayed I was told it wasn’t a Bistro which meant I had to pay for my dining while there which wasn’t a problem but just like most travelers I was looking forward to what was being displayed. Secondly, the first room I got to the couch had stains and the bedding and bathtub was dirty. I went back downstairs to discuss with front desk and he upgraded my room which was slightly better. While wanting to relax on the balcony that was offered, it was no balcony furniture and I had the view of old furniture gathered outside as well as big trash bins that could be rented so I did not enjoy that. This Sonesta and the Sonesta in Cary, NC are nothing alike which I was expecting the same layout. I started to read the reviews and previous customers talked about bed bug issues, funky smells from the rooms, and overall not satisfied with the hotel. Luckily, I did not encounter bed bugs but I did go to the local Dollar Tree and purchased cleaning products and wiped around in the room. Overall, I will not be going back.

Plenty of parking. Good places to eat close by. I feel safe. Rooms are clean. Very central location in the RDU area. Very little staff. Always pleasant and brief.

Clean and quiet

My shower was dirty, hotel lobby smelled like wet stale laundry. Otherwise convenient location to everywhere I needed to go

My experience was convenient and relaxing. The property was easy to find and is a great location!!!

It is a very nice hotel

The hotel should not be open while under renovations. The pictures from what I saw on the app were not the same as what I saw in person.

No free breakfast, only coffee.we went down for coffee at 9:00am,and they were out.
-
People smoking marihuana on their balconies and smell was coming inside my room even with the doors closed.
-
The staff were rude. Especially the front desk staff Neil. Every other day they had no clean towels and breakfast coffee wasn’t always hot! No continental breakfast but they had a setup to provide breakfast! Front desk staff never dressed professionally.

Enjoyed the sitting area outside and the spacious lobby area. Location was very convenient to UNC Chapel Hill.

Secure parking. However, I should’ve known something was wrong when I noticed a lot before smelly cardboard from them storing furniture in the lobby or when I step into the elevator and saw a chipped panel. That should’ve been an indication. But instead I proceeded to the room and once I got there on immediately notice it smelled like cigarettes. Which says a lot coming from a cigarette smoker. The room just didn’t feel cleaned at all I pulled back the sheets I didn’t see any stains but the overall condition and cleanliness of the room didn’t sit well with me. There was trash behind the nightstand around the corners of the wall. There was a chip in the wall near the closet and the furniture was very motel esq. I didn’t even put my stuff down .we gathered our things went back to the lobby ,left the key on the desk , and left without actually staying in the room we paid for . I’m not usually bougie or too good to sleep somewhere but I just couldn’t comfortably lay down and relax in that room

Soñé of the staff are very rude. Not friendly

At check-in had to call for sheets and pillows for the sofa bed and towels for the amount of guests as there wasn’t enough. Stingy on other amenities like cups and in room coffee pods. Not enough for the three registered guests. King mattress was comfy. Great pillows. Coffee was ok and available until noon in the lobby. Staff was very friendly.
