Do not book through Hotels.com because they (or the hotel) WILL NOT honor their price guarantee of "what you see is what you pay". This facility DOES include a $39 per night hotel fee and it WAS included in the amount charged and was also on my Hotels.com reservation confirmation---that is not in dispute. I read the fine print...no problem. The fees and taxes were included on my CONFIRMATION I received from Hotels.com. But because I chose to pay AT the hotel instead of through hotels.com beforehand, they decided to charge more than I booked for for the base nightly rate at check in. The nightly rate charged basically doubled their hotel fee...the nightly rate that was charged was increased conveniently by $39 per night AND they separately charged $39 per night fee which resulted in an overall nightly room rate of $283. You can book with them direct right NOW for a lesser nightly fee for the same room, so it's extremely deceptive (and their daily hotel fee if you book direct is $29 per night not $39 or even $78 as charged-not even what they told hotels.com!!!). Let me tell you...for that nightly rate, this hotel is NOT worth it. Their hotel is "tired". Mold stains in bathroom shower and around the tub, dirty grout, there was a dip in the floor where the vinyl plank flooring is coming undone and I almost cut my toe on it twice. There are no kleenex and the toilet paper is from Amazon and it's like sandpaper. Also, bring ear plugs for road noise.

Run down property but very unique and great staff.

The hotel is an easy 2 minute walk to the subway, and is in a great location away from the hustle and bustle of midtown, which I appreciate. The room is the largest I have ever stayed in in NYC, and is quiet for a good night's sleep. The bed was very comfortable and had all the amenities I needed. Very friendly staff who checked in on my via text every day. Great value for the price and I would definitely stay again!

Easy check in and very considerate interactions throughout the stay. The rooms was beautiful, clean, and a great place to relax from the city bustle.

What a great stay! Super clean, lovely staff, beautiful historic building, HUGE room, esp by NY standards, great location- steps away from many shops and restaurants. Couldn’t have asked for a better hotel! I’ll book again!

The hotel was good for the rate. The room was a decently big size for NYC. Hotel staff were very friendly.

Know that they are 100% serious about no changes. We were unable to take our trip because my husband’s knee blew out the day before our trip. I called the hotel and they absolutely refused to let us reschedule for a later date. They first made us call Hotels.com to call the property, so I also had to spend the time on that. My bad because I should have gotten insurance, but I was really disappointed they wouldn’t let us reschedule even with a doctor’s note.

Nice hotel in a great location, friendly and helpful staff and a comfortable bed. Would definitely stay here again!

The building itself is a living story, thoughtfully preserved and lovingly restored. Every detail - from the architecture to the atmosphere - speaks of another era, yet it is seamlessly balanced with modern comfort. It’s not just a hotel; it’s an experience, a rare glimpse into the soul of Old New York. And just as important, the staff embody that same spirit: gracious, knowledgeable, and genuinely proud to share the hotel’s heritage. Their warmth makes you feel like a guest of honor in a place that celebrates the city’s past while welcoming you into its present. I encourage you look this place up on Instagram! You will know what I mean... This place is amazing; highly recommend.

Interesting history but we paid for the suite and there is a club right outside that played loud music until 3 am. There was only one person working at the hotel and when we got there a little early we already had a text that the room was ready and code to enter, but were told we had to pay $75 more if we wanted to go to the room early. If the one staff member left the front desk there was nobody else around to help and no security at all. Already mentioned all of this when asked to leave a review and was told that they don't have a sound meter to document the noise of the club. There is no way that would not be obvious.

Friendly front desk and very nice room

Beautiful historic building with upgraded amenities and a lovely atmosphere. Elevator is a bit old, but otherwise this was a perfect stay in a very convenient location and I will definitely be back! The room along the back of the building facing the alleys was very quiet despite it being a loud area.

This is the second time we stayed at the historic blue Hotel! I grew up four blocks from the hotel so this is a coming home experience. The hotel is awesome. It’s the only place to stay in New York!

LOVED how every single person we spoke with was totally committed to our comfort. There were a couple of technical issues (the fridge was leaking) and they fixed it immediately. They checked on but were not overbearing. They were incredibly friendly but not overbearing. The room was lovely and I would 100% stay there again.
