It is convenient to all the things around. If you are looking for a budget type spot - this is a good spot with comfy beds. Highly recommend you travel with a noise machine btw.

Great donuts!
-
The faucet dripped all night and you couldn't turn off the noisy bathroom fan. You had to use your phone to cast your own streaming service to get TV.

The room was very clean and the shower had a good water pressure. I liked the charm and retro feel of the place. Take note that there are no elevators and there is only 1 ice machine on the first floor.

It was good on the cleanliness front. Not perfect but good.

Not a great experience. The male with the piercings at the front desk was extremely unhelpful and unprofessional. Most of the information he gave us wasn’t accurate. I was very disappointed with where I had chosen to stay until we spoke with the lady who I believe has the shift after him. She was super helpful and kind and gave us great recommendations. The room was not very clean, especially shower. The parking fee is ridiculous especially since it is not made clear at all when booking. They send you an email 2 days before your reservation letting you know but at that point you are unable to make changes to your stay and still get a full refund. The reason we even booked was because of the affordability, but adding $25 each night for parking makes staying here the same or more expensive as staying somewhere much nicer. They are also misleading about parking and make it seem like there will be no where to park for free when in reality there is street parking right beside the motel. I was also really excited about the donuts but they were stale every morning :( unfortunately I won’t be booking again.

I was welcomed at the front desk by a young man whose name was Wren. He was very professional and assisted me accordingly. Gave me some ideas about restaurants in the area and everything was relatively close. All of the weather was hot I preferred to walk and everything was great within a 10th of a mile and more. I took a gray line tour of the city and it was very enjoyable, there's a lot of history in Savannah. The bed in the hotel was awesome extremely comfortable and I slept like a baby. Very friendly staff very helpful. And when I checked out early, the front desk agent was very helpful also. She explained the refund process to me and how it worked because I had gone through Expedia. Expedia also did a great job. Thank you to the Thunderbird Inn, my next stay in Savannah will be with your hotel. By the way traffic goes by the hotel and can be loud, but when you're with someone or your TV is on or you fall asleep you don't even hear it. It is an old style Hotel, but very comfortable. Thank you again to the staff for the great stay I had.

***Read the very bottom of the disclosure before you reserve, there is a non-negotiable $25 parking fee and one of the worst WiFi I’ve ever experienced at any hotel nation wide. Good luck watching TV, that’s a totally different nightmare. Also, the property is on a ver busy street, theres loud thumping for yiur sleeping pleasure cruising by all night. I couldn’t wait to get out of there!

It is a great place. Showers are small but the beds are so comfortable. Staff was wonderful. The check in was great and in the morning g they have the best donuts! It was great to stay in a place that was quiet and comfortable. Loved the old time feeling.

We had a really great time! It was myself and my children, and because they are homeschooled, we can get away during weekdays as opposed to only the weekends. So when my girlfriend‘s birthday landed on a Tuesday, it was a great opportunity to not only pop up on her as a surprise, but to spend a little bit of time in Savannah. I was looking for a budget friendly, kid friendly, centrally located hotel, and when I did a Google search and went on ChatGPT the Thunderbird Inn came up. I checked other people’s reviews and to my surprise everything was on the Up and Up. It’s right on Oglethorpe Avenue walking distance away from places like city market and River Street. We did a day at Tybee, visited with my friend, and then a little bit of River Street and historic Savannah. It was a great value for the money spent, and we will be back there when we come back to Savannah in July. The parking was great at only $25 per night versus $50 per night for other hotels in the area. I felt safe, beds were very comfortable, and it was really a great stay for the money. We loved the photo ops around the hotel and my sons loved the donuts, popcorn and lemonade. We will definitely stay again when we come back to Savannah.

Room was clean and staff was kind and helpful.

Breakfast and room clean but there was strong smell of cleaning supplies in the room

This is a great value for your money. It is an aesthetic hotel. The rooms were clean and updated enough for me. It loses a star from me due to the room not having black out curtains and the lights outside the rooms staying on all night, it was very bright in the room all night. Also the water pressure in the shower was not very good. Otherwise great location, easy check in, nice staff, and cheap!

Super cool place.

Unique fun little hotel close to downtown. Mid century modern hip furniture, spacious room, loved the free popcorn, didn’t try the free donuts but they looked yummy. Walked everywhere!

We will be back!!

The location of this hotel and the concept behind it are great. I wanted to love it! Unfortunately, our room was in terrible condition. The chain lock was broken and the shower head was so clogged that it literally sprayed all over the entire bathroom. There was water damage all around the door and baseboards so it has clearly been happening for quite some time. The gap under the room door was sizable and allowed all of the road noise into the room. While the idea of the Thunderbird was fun, staying here wasn’t unfortunately.

I enjoyed my stay at the Thunderbird Inn. The retro vibe was cool, it is in a great location, and the price was unbeatable. The room was spacious and clean however the water pressure wasn't great and the shower curtain setup was such that water leaked onto the floor from a normal shower. If you are on the bottom floor it can feel a little less private as well. Complimentary donuts and coffee in the morning are a plus.

Staff was amazing. Very polite. Very accommodating. Check in was easy and quick. Theme was on point. Donuts were great. Nice to have coffee available 24/7 and not just a coffee pot. There were options for coffee flavor And cream. Nice touch! The WiFi was consistent. The room was spotless! I can’t say enough about how Much I love this motel! The bottom sheet kept coming off in the night. The bed had a bit of a squeak on one side. The bathroom Fan ran continuously so we had to keep The door shut but that wasn’t too off putting. I did have to place a hand towel over the sink drain because of a loud drip. None of these were enough to make me never want to stay again. They are minor issues that are fixable.
