Doubletree Hotel South Bend

Rooms were nice. The common area is older. Staff was very nice.

Shocked! Really nice room. BUT…lobby under construction, pool out of order, bathroom off the restaurant…out of order, 3 night stay…NO housekeeping, trash piled up, no fresh towels, no coffee, no shower gel, 1 bar/sliver of soap…returned to room 11pm each night following reunion events…went to front desk…no housekeeping at that hour. Took 40 min (after midnite) for a maintenance man to bring pool towels, but no coffee, no soap. I returned to the reception desk after midnite in PJs…at least give me coffee for the morning. Felt like a beggar!! AND…went to front are Silver Level Reward Members. Terrible terrible stay. Such a shame because it was a really nice king room. Perhaps they are short staffed, but when it’s Reunion Weekend…isn’t there something you can do? 3 days? No housekeeping ? In our way to reunion the last day, we: Took our trash to an outside bin. Bought coffee at McDonalds. Bought soap at CVS. Just couldn’t trust that the night receptionist could get a housekeeper to our room before our 11pm return.

The hotel was dirty. The bathroom did not work properly and when we metioned it to the front desk they did nothing to fix the situation. The room was not cleaned any of the days and we where ther for 4 nights. We asked for it to be cleaned and whewre refused.

The view and the glass style building The pool was broke /cold. The whole reason we booked it ?

The breakfast was awful and wasn't worth the cost. The carpets in the hallways and the elevator needed vacuuming. The room floors were dirty, as was the toilet, and the double beds were full-size, making it uncomfortable for two people to sleep in them. It was an unpleasant stay.

location staff locked us out of our rooms. they said our cards were declined. we paid through Affrim. family and friends was worried we would have to find another place to stay in the middle of the night after returning to our unpacked locked rooms after 12am.

Great accommodations and the staff was very hospitable.

Location is great but needs some maintenance

When we went the elevators were broke down. It was very hard to climb 7 flights of stairs with a fused foot. They did give us a discount but it caused me a lot of extra pain. The hotel has been under construction for years. We expected it to be done and ready.

When we checked into our room there was a used towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door, hair on the floor of the shower, and used soap in the soap dish. I parked in the back lot and the scanner never worked to let me in the parking lot.

Great location and staff

I have stayed at this property for 20 or more years and it has declined significantly in the past two years. I think it needs a full update of decor and infrastructure. It’s unfortunate as it is so well located to the center of south bend. The floor of my room was fake wood that left my bare feet dirty whenever I walked in it. There was a seriously stained toilet bowl, or it was allowed to sit and not cleaned properly. TV was a mess with two remotes and no logical way to use them. I had to call for help twice and almost a third time. The lighting in the room was very dark. Even with the drapes open.

Convenience

Broken elevator, no working restroom accessible, not ADA compliant causing great hardship for our party. Under construction, light fell from atrium ceiling into the pool while people in pool, so pool closed. Cost unacceptable for at 400.00 per night. We will not be using Hilton again. Son at other Hilton in town had no water. Very disappointing.

The location is awesome if you are going to a Morris Performing arts event or anything downtown. I imagine that’s where the price comes from. Nice hotel and amenities butt the parking ramp only accepts cars and smaller trucks. Overflow parking is onsite for bigger trucks butt not a lot of room. First come first serve. The rooms are much smaller than expected and 2 of the 3 elevators were down. Pain in the butt. Other than that not a bad hotel.

My main issue was that only one of the three elevators was operational, which caused significant frustration and stress, especially when you're lacking sleep from traveling and your only desire is to reach your room and rest, but you're unable to do so because you have to wait for an opportunity to fit into the elevator as everyone is attempting to access their rooms. Also the signature that makes the double tree stand out if the amazing colors that we weren’t offer at registration, when I asked for them they said they had none and they were hopping to have them back In the near future 😳 but I saw some guess on the elevator with cookies. Bummer.
