Renaissance Portsmouth-Norfolk Waterfront Hotel

Towels great! We had very late room service on Friday…. Left no coffee, fresh cups, glasses, etc. No room service at all on Sat. Had to call desk for towels, coffee Outdoor area could be improved….. many chairs had no cushions Location is so nice but for $529 a night, we expect more!! Staff was very nice.

At the busy time only one elevator out of three was working. Valet parking-really. You park your own car and get your own car when needed. We had to get our cart, load our clothes, take the cart to our room and return the cart. Coffee for guests was empty in the morning. No one seemed to care!

Front desk people nice. Bar o.k. Two big issues elevator BIG Issue. At check in we were given one bed for three people. We had to go to desk to get it fixed? I booked this reservation in August of 2025 for June 2026 for three people. I had printed out the reservation and showed them my paperwork. They said someone changed it but could not figure out who or why?. All fixed ...So back to the elevator you had 4 and only one worked and that one sounded scary. We were not allowed to us stairs unless on 2nd floor or higher. Could not give out code on first floor.

Check in was 1 hr late. Under staffed for big event. Outside patio chairs needed new cushions. Staff was friendly. Our room tv wasn’t working & they took 2 hours to get it fixed, but gave us free breakfast for the problem. Great location & parking. Next to ferry. Enjoyed our stay

The room itself was nice but it was so dark. The showerhead in our room did not work well. The hotel also has some wear and tear. You see stains on the walls, near the elevator buttons, inside the elevators, in the hallways, etc.

This was the second time we have stayed at the property. Our first experience wasn’t great and the second may have secured its place as our last. We chose the property because of its convenient location. However, the property is cashless. I found that out when I requested change to tip the Bellman. I was then directed to the bar where someone may be able to break my $20 bill. Last time I looked, US currency was “legal tender for all debts public and private”. If the hotel can decide to not accept cash, we can elect to no longer patronize the establishment.

The lights in the room didn't work when we first went in. They got if fixed, but the shower was less than a dribble and no way to keep it in the stall. the bathroom was soaked everytime any used the shower. This hotel totally failed.
