Location is okay, I guess it is located in downtown, but the beaches are far away, I would say at least 30-40 min Uber drive from Copacabana. Breakfast is below par, but nothing to complain about. Overall our stay was fine. Hotel is quite old and looks tired, the staff was okay-ish. When we checked-in there was only one pair of towels in the room even though it was two of us, and only after multiple calls they finally brought the second pair of towels. they also tried to charge us for drinks in the fridge that we did not consume, so that was a bummer too. During Carnaval the accommodation prices skyrocketed, I guess it is true for any hotel/apartment in Rio, but we felt that it this hotel was not a good value for money for Carnaval season. This hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel, it is 3 stars at best and even that is a stretch.

The staff is friendly and you can tell they try to do their best. Generall speaking, it was a very bad experience. In the photos on Booking it shows that all rooms have a safe, which is not true. When we arrived, our room did not have one. On the second day, the air conditioning started to smell very bad, so we asked for it to be repaired. During the time staff entered the room to fix it, one of our suitcases was opened and 300 Brazilian reais (approximately €55) were stolen. We immediately informed the manager, who came upstairs right away and installed a safe in our room. He told me to send an email so they could arrange a refund for the 300 reais, but that never happened. They later claimed there was no way to prove it and refused to take responsibility. Honestly, we had no reason to lie about such an amount of money. We decided to let it go because we did not want to continue arguing with the staff and we were afraid of being asked to leave during high carnival season. Additionally, the ceiling in our room was covered with large damp stains — simply disgusting (I have attached photos). Please consider other accommodation options, as this place did not take responsibility for what happened to us.

Staff at breakfast was rude, never smile and always closing early. We waited one week for someone to fix the safe but no-one came

The sounds of the plumbing pipes threw the night

Clean, comfortable, friendly stuff. Grocery store just beside this hotel.

Not the most walkable area and not close to the metro
-
Bed was relatively comfortable. Drain flies were coming out of the sink. The hallways needs a bit more love and care, as there was dust collecting there.

Staff extremely slow and uninterested. The hotels key system was out of service so you had to go to the reception and wait 10 minutes for someone to help you open the door of your room. The second day there was no hot water. The staff seems uninterested solving the problems with the key system nor do they warn their customers doing their check ins.
