Island Grand at TradeWinds

We were traveling with a baby it was hard when our room was not ready at check in no areas for nursing in the lobby and didn’t offer late check out. Made for our short time there a bit hectic.

The hotel does not allow early check-in unless you pay a fee. We even contacted them ahead of time and still had to wait 3 hours to get into our room. The hotel website is very deceiving about how well it is maintained or updated. The pics on their site only show the best parts of the hotel. What they fail to tell you is that its basically a motel 6. No air in the hallways or elevators, water on the floors everywhere, no ice machines work on numerous floors, no vending machines so you have to get drinks in the hotel gift shop at an outrageous price. The hotel restaurants were understaffed and unclean. Food and water all over the chairs and tables that never got clean. Everything is served family style which is extremely inconvenient. The Italian restaurant got our order completely wrong so the waitress never came back to our table. The resort smelled like sewer and old garbage since it was so close to each of the tiny pools they have. Don't waste money on the cabanas or umbrellas they are situated in front of a pool with tons of kids and there is no food and drink service which it claims to have. It was not at all what we expected for a five star resort they claimed to be. We will not be staying there again.

Tried to get into our room at 4 pm check in and room was not available until 5:30. Dinner reservation at 6 pm and early 11 am check out. Not very relaxing overnight, no time to chill before dinner and then early night.

We had an amazing experience staying at the grand at the island grand at tradewinds. From our check in and welcome to the checkout and everything in between was wonderful. Staff was helpful and friendly and went above and beyond. The room and the grounds were clean and well maintained. There are tons of food options and activities on the property as well as a beautiful beach. We are looking forward to come back soon.

Rooms were not like the photos but the staff was nice and beach amenities were great. Food was good too.

It was an great experience

Property was great for a quick family trip. Everything you need is right on property.

We were staying for 7 days and paid for a gulf from room. When we went to check in, the awesome front desk girl said she would upgrade us to a gulf front room with a kitchenet. The room was spacious and clean. We didn't realize that they had moved the adults only pool to a different area of the property--to an adjacent building, until the very end of our trip.

We’ve stayed here before a few years ago, and it was nice, but we have vacationed at other resorts in St. Pete over the last 4-5 years. OH. MY. GOSH. Am I glad we came back! We were blown away by Tradewinds this time around! The staff was absolutely exceptional, the grounds were amazingly well kept, and there was an abundance of activities for all ages between Island Grand and Rumfish. We will be staying at Tradewinds each summer for our future vacations!

Music at the main pool was a little too loud. A bit excessive. Pools were very busy but then that's good for business. Went to beach every day. Just beautiful & staff will insert your umbrella for you. Water was clear & loved walking out along on the sandbar. That beach is hard to beat 💟

Staff and location are great. Poolside bar and restaurant is amazing. Close to restaurants, shopping, and pier 60.

Didn’t like it . Too expensive but amenities and service not good

Dirty bathroom, bloodstains on the sheets, shower had no water pressure. Air conditioning leaked and flooded the bathroom; it took maintenance 4 hours to respond. Then once they said they fixed the issue the AC stopped working and they never responded until the next day.

Very friendly staff, amenities galore, always something going on and things to do with the kids. Only complaint would be the shower. When a hotel caters to families, a pull down showerhead would be so beneficial!! The littles had a hard time getting shampoo and conditioner out. And of course as a female, I much prefer a pulldown showerhead, sand gets everywhere!

The location right in the beach was perfect! The staff were friendly and very accommodating ! The mattress was extremely comfortable . We enjoyed the shower and bathroom very much! Our room on the top floor W/balcony was exactly what we hoped and expected ! Although we only stayed for none night, we fully intend to return in the not too distant future for a longer stay ! We found that the lighting at night around the pool are and jacuzzis could have been better. One of the 2 jacuzzis was not lit . One the day we checked out we had reservations w/ The Dolphin Racer. We needed to to be present 30 minutes prior to the departure from the Pasadena Ave. location. I went to use the elevators and neither elavator was working . I had to use the stairs from the 7th floor down to the first floor, where I immediately went straight to the bell staff to report that the elevators were not operating properly and we needed to be at the departure point by 10:30. The bell staff did ultimately make it up to our room by elevator but by then the time was 10:45. The bell staff loaded our luggage and we immediately left for The Dolphin Racer departure port . Jenny From The Dolphin Racer , whom we made our reservation, called to asked where we were , as it was now 5 minutes left to departure . I informed her the issue with the elevators caused our delay and pleaded with her not to leave as we would be arriving by 10:55. She assured us the boat would wait . As a result , I feel we are deserving of some kind of partial reimbursement . I felt there was not an urgency given to address the elevator issue which added a great deal of stress to us .
